How this list works. Companies are ranked by the bitcoin they own, as stated in their latest filing or official disclosure. Bitcoin held for customers doesn’t count, and neither do funds, ETFs, governments or private companies. Many companies report only once a quarter, so the last column gives the date of each figure. The US$ value uses one price for every row, bitcoin’s closing price of $83,691 on October 11, 2026 (CoinGecko).[2] “Share of all 21M bitcoin” compares each holding with the 21 million coins the bitcoin network will ever create. Together the 25 companies own about 1.18 million BTC, roughly 5.6% of that cap. Three companies are left out because their figure couldn’t be confirmed: Galaxy Digital reports only a gross number that includes borrowed coins, Bitcoin Group SE’s count couldn’t be confirmed from a primary source, and Bitcoin Standard Treasury Co.’s listing was called off in August 2026. Tesla, at #11, misses the Top 10 by about 2,000 coins. Where the data comes from: the holdings are from Bittery’s weekly ranking of the largest public bitcoin treasury companies (data as of October 12, 2026), which checks every figure against company filings each Monday.[1] For this week’s numbers and investor measures such as mNAV and leverage, see the live ranking there. This list is for information only, not investment advice.

The Top 10

#1

Strategy — 848,000 BTC

Strategy was a business-software company, MicroStrategy, co-founded by Michael Saylor. On August 11, 2020 it bought its first 21,454 bitcoin for $250 million, and it has kept buying ever since. It dropped the “Micro” from its name in February 2025.[4] A filing on October 5, 2026 put its stash at 848,000 BTC, bought for $63.97 billion in total, about $75,441 a coin.[3]

#2

Metaplanet — 44,000 BTC

Metaplanet used to be Red Planet Japan, a budget hotel company, and changed its name in February 2023. In April 2024 it began holding bitcoin as its main reserve asset, pointing to the weak yen and Japan’s heavy government debt.[6] Its investor website showed 44,000 BTC on October 5, 2026, more than any other company outside the United States.[5] The video is CEO Simon Gerovich’s talk at the Bitcoin 2025 conference.

#3

Twenty One Capital — 43,514 BTC

Twenty One started life with a ready-made stash. It began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on December 9, 2025 under the ticker XXI, the Roman numerals for 21, a nod to bitcoin’s 21 million coin limit. It listed with more than 43,500 bitcoin, mostly put in by its majority owners Tether and Bitfinex, and SoftBank owns a large minority stake.[7] Co-founder Jack Mallers, interviewed above on listing day, stepped down as CEO in July 2026 to return to his payments app Strike. Raphael Zagury replaced him.[8]

#4

MARA Holdings — 35,577 BTC

MARA is a bitcoin miner. It runs huge fleets of specialized computers that process bitcoin transactions, and the network rewards that work with newly created coins. MARA mined 4,669 bitcoin in the first half of 2026 and held 35,577 on June 30.[9] The company began in 2010 as Marathon Patent Group, a patent-licensing business. It became Marathon Digital Holdings in 2021 and shortened its name to MARA in 2024.[10]

#5

Strive — 29,462 BTC

Co-founded by Vivek Ramaswamy, Strive started out as an asset manager. In 2025 it turned itself into a bitcoin treasury company and reached Nasdaq by merging with Asset Entities. In September 2025 it agreed an all-stock takeover of Semler Scientific, a medical-device maker with its own bitcoin pile.[11] That deal closed in January 2026. Between September 28 and October 2, 2026, Strive bought 2,000 more bitcoin, taking it to 29,462.[12]

#6

Bullish — about 19,990 BTC

Bullish runs a crypto exchange and owns CoinDesk, one of the best-known crypto news sites, which it bought in 2023. Backed by Peter Thiel, it priced its IPO at $37 a share in August 2025, and the stock opened at $90 on its first day on the NYSE.[13] Its accounts for June 30, 2026 show about 19,990 BTC. Around 12,287 of those are held as cbBTC, a token that stands in for bitcoin on other blockchains.[14]

#7

SpaceX — 18,712 BTC

Elon Musk let slip that SpaceX owned bitcoin at a crypto conference in July 2021, but he didn’t say how much.[15] The answer came when the rocket and Starlink company went public in June 2026. It held exactly 18,712 BTC, bought for $661 million, at the end of 2024, at the end of 2025 and again on June 30, 2026, so it hasn’t bought or sold a coin in that time.[16]

#8

Coinbase — 17,311 BTC

Coinbase is the largest US crypto exchange, and in May 2025 it became the first crypto company in the S&P 500.[17] Its customers keep roughly 2.9 million bitcoin on the platform, but those coins belong to them. This ranking counts only the 17,311 BTC that Coinbase owns as an investment, up from 15,389 at the end of 2025.[18]

#9

Trump Media & Technology Group — about 14,139 BTC

The owner of Truth Social announced on May 27, 2025 that it had raised about $2.5 billion from around 50 institutional investors to build a bitcoin treasury.[19] It reported about 14,139 bitcoin at July 31, 2026. Some of those coins back the convertible notes that helped pay for them.[20]

#10

CleanSpark — 13,530 BTC

CleanSpark started as a Nevada company called SmartData in 1987. It took the CleanSpark name in 2016, while building microgrid energy systems, and moved into bitcoin mining by buying ATL Data Centers in December 2020.[21] It mined 593 bitcoin in August 2026 alone.[22] In September it mined 529 more and ended the month with 13,530 BTC, and it said that would be its last monthly update.[22]
