Breath of the Wild has sold about 36 million copies across Switch and Wii U, the most of any Zelda game. Tears of the Kingdom (22.9 million) and Ocarina of Time (14 million) follow. This ranks the series game by game, with remakes and ports counted under their original; for the biggest games of any kind, see The Best-Selling Video Games of All Time.

Sales are lifetime units as of November 2026, with the dates shown in the last column. The base is the sales table in Wikipedia’s article on the series (figures as of March 31, 2025); Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom and the Wii U part of The Wind Waker use Nintendo’s own Top Selling Title Sales Units tables, as of September 30, 2026 (Switch) and March 31, 2026 (Wii U). Breath of the Wild adds Nintendo’s 34.28 million Switch units to Wikipedia’s 1.7 million Wii U units, because Nintendo’s Wii U table does not list it. Each row is one game with every platform version summed; remakes and ports (Link’s Awakening 2019, the 3DS and HD versions) are not separate rows. Twilight Princess is the sum of its three platform figures (the source table rounds it to 10). Four Swords Adventures, which has no published figure, and spin-offs are left out, as are Four Swords (2.82 million), Spirit Tracks, The Minish Cap and Tri Force Heroes, which fall below the cut. Figures are worldwide and include bundled and downloadable copies where the source counts them.[1][2][3]
The Top 10
#1
Breath of the Wild — 35.98 million
Combined sales of 35.98 million: 34.28 million on Switch (Nintendo, September 30, 2026) plus 1.7 million on Wii U (Wikipedia’s table).[1][3] It launched on March 3, 2017, on both consoles, and no other Zelda game has sold within 10 million copies of it. The video is the trailer shown at the Switch presentation. Pictured version: Switch.
#2
Tears of the Kingdom — 22.90 million
The 2023 sequel has sold 22.90 million copies on Switch as of September 30, 2026, making it Nintendo’s eighth-best-selling Switch game.[1] It is Switch-only, so no versions are combined. The video is Nintendo’s final pre-launch trailer.
#3
Ocarina of Time — 14.04 million
Ocarina of Time sold 7.6 million on Nintendo 64 and 6.44 million on 3DS, 14.04 million in all.[3] Wikipedia’s table counts it that way, so it ranks third even though the N64 original alone would sit lower. The video is the 3DS remake trailer.
#4
Link’s Awakening — 10.29 million
The 1993 Game Boy game sold 3.83 million, and the 2019 Switch remake sold 6.46 million, for 10.29 million.[3] The remake is counted with the original, as one game. The video is the Switch remake’s announcement trailer.
#5
Twilight Princess — 10.08 million
Twilight Princess sold 7.50 million on Wii, 1.43 million on GameCube and 1.15 million on Wii U (the 2016 HD version), which adds to 10.08 million; Wikipedia’s table rounds this to 10 million.[3] The video is for the HD version.
#6
Skyward Sword — 7.82 million
The 2011 Wii game sold 3.67 million, and its 2021 Switch HD version 4.15 million, for 7.82 million.[3] The video is the Switch announcement trailer.
#7
A Link to the Past — 7.43 million
A Link to the Past sold 4.61 million on SNES and 2.82 million on Game Boy Advance, 7.43 million together.[3] The video covers its Nintendo Switch Online release.
#8 (tie)
Majora’s Mask — 6.80 million
Majora’s Mask sold 3.36 million on N64 and 3.44 million on 3DS, 6.80 million in all.[3] The 3DS version outsold the original. The video is the 3DS announcement trailer.
#8 (tie)
The Wind Waker — 6.80 million
The Wind Waker sold 4.43 million on GameCube and 2.37 million as the Wii U HD version, 6.80 million in all.[2][3] The Wii U figure is Nintendo’s own, as of March 31, 2026. The video is the HD version’s E3 trailer.
#10
The Legend of Zelda — 6.51 million
The original 1986 game sold 6.51 million copies on the NES, a figure that comes from Wikipedia’s table.[3] It is a single-platform row. No verified official video was available, so an icon is shown.
