Tallest volcanoes in Australia/New Zealand/Oceania - Located in New Zealand, Mount Ruapehu is the tallest active stratovolcano in the Oceania region. Mt Ruapehu began erupting some 250,000 years ago and its last eruption was on 25 September 2007. In between eruptions, the Crater Lake forms within the crater of the volcano from melting snow.
