Overview

Tallest volcanoes in Africa. Located in Tanzania, the famous Mount Kilimanjaro is both the highest mountain and the tallest volcano in Africa. A dormant stratovolcano, Mount Kilimanjaro last erupted some 200,000 years ago. Of its three volcanic cones, the Kibo cone is dormant while the Mawenzi and Shira cones are extinct.
