Overview

In 2018, Asia produced 3.9 million light commercial vehicles (LCVs) or 19% of the world's total production. This puts Asia in second place to North America which produced close to 12 million LCVs or 57% of the world's global output. Europe is third in production capacity at 2 million LCVs or close to 10%.

The OICA, or  Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers), tracks and represents the global auto industry. Here is a raw summary of the light commercial vehicle (LCV) production for 2017 to 2018 by countries in Asia.

A light commercial vehicle is generally referred to as a commercial carrier vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of no more than 3.5 metric tons. In Asia, China, Japan and India remain the top three light commercial vehicle (LCV) producers for 2017-2018 and account about 16% of the global production of light commercial vehicles.

In 2018, there are close to 21 million light commercial vehicles produced. Out of which, 9.46% (or 2  million vehicles) are produced in China, 4% (or 0.84 million vehicles) are produced in Japan and 3.14% (or 0.66 million vehicles) are produced in India.

In 2017, there are close to 20 million light commercial vehicles produced. Out of which, 8.7% (or 1.7 million vehicles) are produced in China, 4%  (or 0.8 million vehicles) are produced in Japan and 2.5% (or 0.5 million vehicles) are produced in India.
