This list shows the cruise lines and the cruise ships in their fleets. Royal Caribbean International has the highest number of these mega-cruises at 16, from the Voyager-class cruise ships, to the Freedom-class ships, to the Quantum-class ships and finally, the behemoth Oasis-class ships, such as Symphony of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas.
From the image above, you can observe the immense size of the Oasis-class Symphony of the Seas which is the largest cruise ship as of 2020.
Another large cruise line, MSC Cruises, has launched at least 3 new classes in the past 10 years, from the Fantasia-class cruises to the Seaside-class ships to the larger Meraviglia-class cruise ships, such as MSC Grandiosa, MSC Meraviglia and MSC Bellissima.
Coasta Cruises and AIDA Cruises operate the Excellence-class cruise ships, which includes the huge Costa Smeralda and Aidanova, both of which are the 5th and 6th largest cruise ships by gross tonnage as of Mar 2020.
The COVID-19 situation has really hit the cruise industry hard in 2020, with grounding events such as that of the Diamond Princess in Yokohama, Japan and the Grand Princess in California. Nevertheless, I hope the cruise industry will rebound in due time and people can once again reconnect with the truly magical experience of sea-traveling in luxury mega-cruises.
