Overview

The Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) is the busiest airport in Asia both in terms of passenger traffic and total traffic movements, since 2009. In 2017, the BCIA handled closed to 95 million passengers.

In second place, is the Dubai International Airport of United Arab Emirates, which processed around 88 million passengers in 2017. A major connection point for long-haul international flights - Dubai International Airport is also the world’s busiest in terms of international passengers.

In a close third place, is Tokyo Haneda Airport of Japan, one of the two primary airports that serve the Greater Tokyo Area, processed 85 million passengers in 2017. The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is in fourth place, handling close to 73 million passengers. The HKIA is also the world's busiest cargo gateway, capable of handling up to 7.4 million tonnes of cargo.
