Africa, as a region, has the lowest rate of Internet penetration, at an average of 26.89%, compared to Europe, which generally has the highest Internet penetration rate at 79.92%. Furthermore, for half of the countries in Africa, less than 20% of their population has access to Internet.
Only three countries - Tunisia, Gabon and Morocco - have Internet penetration rates of more than 60%, with Tunisia being the highest at 64.19%. Less than 3% of the respective populations of Burundi, Somalia and Eritrea have access to Internet, with Eritrea being the lowest at 1.31%.
