Built in year 2000,  Baishamen Lighthouse is the second tallest lighthouse in China, at a height of 72 meters or 236 feet, just 1 feet shorter than the tallest lighthouse in China - Mulantou Lighthouse - which is also located in Hainan island. Constructed with concrete, the Baishamen Lighthouse has a range of 18 nautical miles or 33 kilometers.
