  About Aswan Dam

Located in Aswan, Egypt, Egypt, Aswan Dam, also known as Aswan High Dam, is an embankment dam. It was built in 1970 (52 years since completion).

Aswan Dam impounds the 2nd largest reservoir volume in the world. The structural height of Aswan Dam is 111 meters while its structural volume of 44.30 million m3. The embankment dam can hold up to 169 billion m3 of water and has an installed capacity of 2,100MW.
