Despite its long history, Cordouan lighthouse remains an active lighthouse, located 7 kilometersat sea, near the mouth of the Gironde estuary in France. The stone lighthouse stands at a height of 68 meters (223 feet) and projects a range of up to 22 nautical miles or 41 kilometers.
