  About Leshan Giant Buddha

Standing at a height of 71.00 meters and located in Leshan, China, this magnificent Leshan Giant Buddha is a stone statue of Buddha (Maitreya) carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones. It is the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world. The surrounding Mount Emei Scenic Area, including the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area, has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.
