Located in The border region of Eastern Cape and Free State, South Africa, Gariep Dam is an arch-gravity dam. It was built in 1971 (51 years since completion).

Gariep Dam is the 3rd tallest dam in Africa. The arch-gravity dam has an installed capacity of 360MW. Gariep Dam stands 88 meters tall and can impound up to 5.34 billion m3 of water.
